"To be a Ranger is to sense the sacred trust of upholding all that such a name means in this shrine of football. They must be true in their conception of what the Ibrox tradition seeks from them. No true Ranger has ever failed in the tradition set him." - William Struth

Vanguard Bears Statement

Written by: Admin

Last Week, Vanguard Bears Admin posted the following article: http://www.vanguardbears.co.uk/stop-reading-if-you-dont-like-the-truth.html

Following that, we thought that blogger David Leggat might just see sense, realise he has been led a merry dance by his sources and quietly shelve his ongoing vendetta against Vanguard Bears.

Sadly not.

Instead Leggat continues with a barking conspiracy filled blog that is fuelled by fantasy. So, while this would appear to be a response to Mr Leggat, it's actually just a clarification for others who actually believe his wild conspiracies:

  • Vanguard Bears have never had any dialogue with Jack Irvine and have no wish to
  • Vanguard Bears at our recent meeting with club officials, advised that we believe Jack Irvine should have no place at Rangers
  • The subject of democracy within the Rangers supporters groups is a very interesting one - we understand that the Rangers Supporters Assembly and the Rangers Supporters Association have not consulted members on a host of issues, when they do so, then "democracy" will be a valid topic of discussion to use in rants about Vanguard Bears
  • The only place to get official communications from Vanguard Bears is via our front page or the official Twitter news feed
  • Vanguard Bears have never spoken to Colin Kingsnorth or anyone from Laxey Partners
  • Vanguard Bears have stated our neutral position very clearly, and we repeat that it has always been our position to question and challenge "both sides" in the Rangers boardroom battle
  • Trying to intimidate us in to "picking a side" will not work and does not add any value to that "battle" - we remain neutral as it means we are therefore objective and can be trusted when we speak on the subject, as we have no agenda for one side or the other
  • Making wild assumptions about users on Rangers Media, or Twitter can make you look very silly, particularly if you are miles wide of the mark and these people are not on Vanguard Bears
  • If Colin Kingsnorth has been "fed lies" then they have not come from Vanguard Bears, as we've never spoken to him
  • If the Rangers supporters groups wish to meet Colin Kingsnorth and impress on him their distrust of the current board, then that is their prerogative. They should consult their membership first
  • To suggest that a multi-million pound hedge fund business would make decisions based on suggestions from a football supporters website is frankly preposterous
  • Our site prevails due to the sterling efforts of volunteers for no financial gain - any fundraising we have done has been for web hosting costs or specific projects such as William McBeath's final resting place, the ongoing shirt sponsorship for Robbie Crawford, the RFFF and various Armed Forces/Veterans charities

So, you may have gathered that much of Leggat's blog about Vanguard Bears is fantasy, with some of it bordering on defamatory.

What you should then ask yourself is "What would Vanguard Bears have to gain from such conduct?"

Well, perhaps it's worth stating again that "we" as a group would gain absolutely nothing from either eventuality in the boardroom battle, other than hopefully the benefit of seeing a resurgent Rangers back on top of Scottish Football.

We have zero interest in having a seat in the board.

We also have no interest in "stopping" Paul Murray gaining control of the boardroom. If we did, then we wouldn't be doing it via an online assault through social media platforms. If Leggat and his sources have a perception that VB get in their way of boardroom representation, and "change" then their perception is wildly off the mark.

If there is no will for fan representation within the current boardroom, or with its backers, then perhaps the question should be asked directly of these people. Frankly, if any of these board members have any grasp on fan politics then they will be able to see for themselves there is a lack of unity underneath the veneer of a handful of individuals representing groups that don't' consult their members.

We have questioned Brian Stockbridge on the current boards' plans for the club, and would also like to question Paul Murray, and our door is still open for discussion with him. That offer of open discussion still remains open to the "Sons of Struth", who unfortunately had to cancel an arrangement to meet with us yesterday.

These are the FACTS about Vanguard Bears' stance on the matter. Anyone needing further clarification, or who has information to the contrary, please get in touch through the 'Contact Us' link in the navigation menu.
