The 2013 Rangers Annual General Meeting has come and gone and we now know that the present board secured enough votes to remain in their positions. We also know that the four requisitioners were unsuccessful in their bid to be appointed to the board. There is nothing to be gained in criticising or gloating over today’s events. We can only hope that they will never be repeated.
Democracy has spoken and we hope that ALL parties now take a step back and do what is best for Rangers Football Club.
As supporters of Rangers and NOT the people in shirts and ties, we will give the board a chance to show what plans they have to get us back to our rightful position as the number one club in Scotland. Rest assured though we will be closely monitoring the performances of the present directors and if we feel they are not up to the job or are misleading the fans we will not hesitate to say so. They have a lot to do to earn the trust and respect that Mr. Wallace spoke about in his first speech as Rangers C.E.O.
That trust has to be earned, in particular today’s performance from Mr. Somers could be viewed as a less-than-convincing case for him to be fully supported.
Likewise we hope that all the fans who want respect and trust realise this is a two way street. Yes, we have been badly let down in the past by individuals which has caused many of us to be naturally suspicious of any new appointments. However, there comes a point where we have to let the board get on with running the club and support the team on the park - that time is now.
Vanguard Bears reiterates our call for the Jack Irvine/Media House contract with the club to be terminated with immediate effect. We would also strongly urge the board to get around the table with Dave King and get him involved as soon as possible.
Lastly we would ask that Paul Murray respects the promise he made to walk away for good, now that he has been unsuccessful in his bid to become a director of Rangers. This circus cannot be allowed to continue.
